In January of 2006, I moved from West Lafayette, IN to Seattle, WA. I was in Indiana for graduate school, and I never really liked the area for many reasons, so I was only too happy to be leaving. I was sad at leaving Matt behind -- he had some business to take care of before he could join me in Seattle, but I was happy to be hitting the road none-the-less. Since Matt couldn't make the trip with me, he insisted the drive have a traveling mascot, so he bought me a pink stuffed Elephant. My sister flew out from San Diego to make the drive with me and together we christened our traveling mascot -- Cammy to honor Matt (since his middle name is Camron). As you can see from the pictures below, Cammy made a lot of friends on the trip. We had a few things we wanted to see on the way. My sister insisted we stop to see The World’s Largest Jolly Green Giant. I wanted to be sure to check out The Wind Cave National Park. We drove through a huge heard of buffalo on the way there, and had to wait quite a while before they moved out of the road and allowed us to pass! And both of us were excited to visit Mt. Rushmore. We even serendipitously discovered that the Spam Museum was right on our route and couldn’t resist stopping for some Spam silliness! Although we didn’t have any specific stops in Montana, driving through was one of the best parts of the trip -- it was beautiful!! We had to cross several mountain passes during the drive, and some of them were a little scary in the middle of winter, but luckily none of them were closed. After hanging out for a couple days in Seattle, I put Jessica on a plane headed back to San Diego and started getting settled in my new City. Seattle is fabulous!!!
